2008 Friends of Hampton Roads
Thanksgiving Celebration
This year FHR collected enough money and food items to give 4 large thanksgiving baskets to needy families. This effort was lead by Yvonne Johnson our FHR’s Community Outreach Leader. Supplemented by a small stipend from FHR, and several member contributions, Yvonne worked tirelessly to gather perishable and nonperishable goods – enough to feed 4 families. The contents included: turkeys, chickens, rice, gravy, vegetables, fruit, can goods, juice, sugar, flour, yams, potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc. – all the right fixings for a wonderful thanksgiving feast.
FHR is so grateful for the many blessing we have received and want to give back in tangible ways to meet the real and present needs of those that are less fortunate in our community.
